The cave / Nakvynė oloj

May 2, 2013 / by gerda

Sounds intriguing? We think so too :) We met one really interesting guy, who doesn’t want to be mentioned, so we’ll call him Mr Y. Mr Y was very kind to invite us to stay at his holiday residence – a cave on the seashore. The cave has a long history of human occupation, originally used by the native Canarian inhabitants, the Guanches, years and years before the Spannish set their foot on the island.

The amenities in the cave are very modest, but you have all you need. A couple of small shelves, a palm leaf canopy to provide share from the strong evening sun, a “kitchen” area in the centre, even a proper chair and many other places to sit. It also has a magnetic quality, for we never wanted to go anywhere. And so we spent several days there, staring into the ocean, having coffee with delicious chocolate sandwich biscuits, conversing over many interesting topics with Mr Y, ejoying the sounds of his guitar, watching the sunset and the distant lights of the nearby town, waking up to the sound of the waves, reading books, enjoying coffee with delicious chocolate sandwich biscuits…

Suintrigavo?
